Flight operations officers, also known as flight operations duty officers or flight operations controllers, are part of the team responsible for the day-to-day running of their airline’s operations control centre. They make sure that the airline has the right aircraft in the right place at the right time, with the right crew, ready to go. Flight operations officers are responsible to their Flight Operations Manager and may themselves supervise operations assistants.

It is not uncommon for training to be provided on the job, depending on the size of the employer, which would commonly entail a Diploma of Logistics/Associate Degree. A background in aviation is not essential but it is desirable.
