The Operations Manager, or Flight Operations Manager, is the second highest level day-to-day manager of the airfield, ramp tower, communications centre and terminal operations and manages field operations at the airport to ensure the efficient movement of aircraft and the safety of the travelling public.
The Flight Operations Manager is responsible for field operations and the security system of the aircraft operations area, terminal and parking facilities. On a day to day basis, this requires supervision of subordinate staff involved in both the movement of aircraft and the security of passengers. During emergencies, the manager coordinates efforts and handles security problems by enforcing airport security requirements in the terminal, concourses and on the airfield. Inspections of airport facilities to ensure compliance with government regulations are also common tasks.
Three years of experience at the level of Flight Operations Officer in a medium or large hub civilian airport or military facility and a Diploma of Logistics or Degree is a common requirement.
